Five-year survival rate and factors affecting the survival of hemodialysis patients
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: Survival rate is important in chronic kidney disease patients due to their dependence on hemodialysis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the survival rate of five- years and factors affecting the survival of hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: This historical cohort study was performed in 60 hemodialysis patients admitted to Kamyaran Sina Hospital (Iran). Statistical analysis was done using the Kaplan-Meier curve and compared by the Log-Rank test. Correspondingly, to determine the most important factors affecting the prognosis of survival of patients, we used Cox regression model. Results: The mean and median survival was 31.4 months and 34 months respectively. The survival rate of 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years and 5 years for patients were 84%, 60%, 49%, 25% and 10%, respectively. The mean albumin was significant based on the Cox regression. Conclusion: The results of Cox regression indicated that the mean of albumin was the most important factor and also had a protective effect on hemodialysis patients. Remarkably, the survival rates of these patients will be increased if the mean of albumin has an increase.

full textIdentification of Factors Affecting Metastatic Gastric Cancer Patients’ Survival Using the Random Survival Forest and Comparison with Cox Regression Model
Background and Objectives: In survival analysis, using the Cox model to determine the effective factors requires the assumptions whose failure of leads to biased results. The aim of this paper was to determine the factors affecting the survival of metastatic gastric cancer patients using the non-parametric method of Randomized Survival Forest (RSF) model and to compare its result with the Cox m...
